catching up

I'm still trying to catch this blog up, so once again we must go back in time....
Easter was over and the next weekend I headed to the Sauerland Stern Hotel for the PWOC (Protestant Women of the Chapel) Conference. We went with about 7 people from our group at Katterbach, and there were over 300 women. It was an awesome weekend with a guest speaker by the name of Cynthia Heald and lots of classes. There were classes on board positions, personal growth, how to have better bible studies, etc. It was really quite informative, as well as fun. We laughed a lot and didn't sleep so much, by Monday we were tired! It was from Friday to Monday, and about 3 hours away. Jacob stayed busy with his babysitter Michelle and Kenny, and barely missed me. When I talked to him on the phone it sounded like he was having a great time.

The next couple weeks were full of meetings to finish up the last year, and begin the new year with the PWOC board. The weather warmed up so we were outside a lot, riding bikes and playing in the yard.

Of course we had to go find a rodelbahn, since it is now the season for those again. We found this one not too far from the house, about 1/2 hour. It was a little different than some of the others we have been on, you had to get off at the top and move your "bahn" to the track. But still a fun ride! They even have some animals that were on a walk through some woods, which was nice. On the way home we stopped at a yummy greek restaurant, it is now our favorite. (That changes pretty frequently!) It is in a little town called Muhr am See which is near some very large lakes. Kenny plans to so some fishing in the lakes out there when he has some time off.

So, that has caught us up into May!

One more look at some of our tulips... the last one I promise! These were some of the last to open as the front yard gets very little sun. We actually have green moss growing under the grass, in the summer the grass takes over for a little while. I have never seen a yard made of green moss before, and now I have one.

Our tulips are really blooming, Kenny planted many more than I knew about last fall. It looks great! You can see in the background that all the summer toys are back out. It's amazing how much time Jacob spends outside now, he never wants to come in.

This is how you sniff a tulip, get your whole nose in there!

Long time

As usual time just flies by and I realize I haven't posted in ages. Things have been pretty busy here, between church and home. Also, the weather has been great so we are always outside! Really - if it is warm and sunny we stay outside.

So, I will back up a bit to the Saturday before Easter. We took a trip to
Legoland Deutschland, about 1 1/2 hours away. The weather was okay that day, not too cold and no rain. There were plenty of rides that Jacob could go on, and we only missed out on a few. There were of course plenty of lego sculptures, they were a lot of fun to look at. An entire section of miniature cities built from Legos. We watched a show about some silly pirates that was pretty good, and then a 3-D movie starring Lego people. We expected them to speak german in the Lego movie, but we think they were speaking Lego - whatever that is. There were life-size Lego sculptures throughout the park, this is our favorite one.

We couldn't believe they had a Lego dog just like our Sammy, and it was stealing some food from a cooler. Jacob got a big kick out of it, so we had to take a picture. There were plenty of other fun things, if you want to see more go to the Legoland album of our photo site. There are also some new photos in the "everyday pics" album.

The next day was Easter and we stayed home and enjoyed the day together. Jacob hunted for eggs and played with some new toys, and we made Easter dinner. It was a yummy dinner and there is still ham in the freezer. It was also nice to just hang out. Kenny is still working a lot and we were quite happy he was off on Saturday and Sunday.

Our tulips are blooming like crazy, they look great. I will post some pictures of them in the next few days.
