Off to Rome..

I have things to post but no time to get to it right now. After Halloween friends arrived, then I went away for a few days. Came back, got busy with various activities at church and now am preparing to get us all packed and off to Rome on Wednesday. So... just a post to let you know we are all fine, just busy. Hopefully I will be able to post a bit more when we return!

It seems to early for this!

So I'm just about to go to bed, and look out the window as I'm adjusting the radiator dial and it's snowing! Not too much, perhaps 1/2 an inch on some cars and nothing on the roads or grass but it's definitely snow. Last year our first snow came around Thanksgiving I think, it really just seems very early. Oh well, at least we can be snuggled under our down comforters, it doesn't matter how cold it is. We all have them this year, and they are so cozy. Jacob loves his too, and the cover for his is knights and dragons. Very cute!

To Infinity and Beyond!

Well, at least to Katterbach for some trick-or-treating! Jacob was so excited about Halloween this year, he could hardly wait. We went to the post for "trunk-or-treat" where lots of people decorate their cars and hand out candy. If we are here next Halloween, we think we will park our car and participate. Then we made the rounds of some of the housing buildings, finally finishing up when Jacob's bucket was full. The place was mobbed with kids, it was a lot of fun. I remember when we were living in military housing here, and we went through so much candy! You really have to prepared. Jacob saw some of his friends, and enjoyed seeing all the costumes. We made it home in time to hand out some candy to some german kids that have recently taken up the trick-or-treat tradition.

Today is a German holiday, All Saints Day. Jacob has the day off from school, and is lounging around the house in his underwear. It's rather gray and cool, so not sure what the rest of the day will hold for us. All the german stores are closed, but the things on Katterbach are open. We are going to a friend's house for dinner, an early birthday celebration for me. Should be lots of fun, and Jacob has a good time playing with her children too.

The day before we assembled our gingerbread Halloween house, and Jacob did a great job decorating it. He thought it was a lot of fun, and that it is very spooky. He wants to eat it, but hopefully he will be distracted by his bucket full of treats and leave the stale candy alone!
